Can I gamble with Litecoin, Dash, Ether or any altcoin?

    There seems to be an ever growing number of crypto-currencies from Etherium to Monero but do any bitcoin casinos or sportsbooks accept these alt-coins or do you always need to use btc?

    Basically any casino gamer can independently validate the fairness of each game buy using a "Verifier" tool. All you need to do is enter the details of your bet and you can verify instantly that all combinations and outcomes were completely random. Here's a more in-dept provably fair explanation.

    In the case of Dash or Monero I guess anonymity is the major benefit. If you are living in a country with extremely harsh penalties for online gambling then maybe these would be a better option since bitcoin is only pseudo anonymous.

    I can't think of any benefit of using Ether for gambling other than that the Ethereum blocks confirm faster.

    If you are buying really dodgy stuff online in Dark Markets then I could see how using alt-coins like Monero and Dash would be useful. If you are just some guy from Boston who wants to wager on the New England Patriots then I don't really think you need that level of secrecy and anonymity. Bitcoin should cover 99.9999% of gambling use cases.

    i have never seen it listed on any gambling site. doesn't vitalik buterin say that ethereum is fuel and not a currency?

    What about Monero or Zcash? They seem to be the new darlings of the crypto-currency world. Do any gambling sites accept ZEC or XMR?

    Monero and Zcash offer more anonymity and fungibility than bitcoin so I could see them being used by big time drug dealers who need to move large amounts of money. For the average gambler who wants to play texas hold'em or bet on the NFL, I think bitcoin offers enough anonymity as long you don't use a KYC/AML bitcoin wallet like Coinbase or Circle.

    The Ethereum network has been virtually unusable for the past few weeks because of the constant attacks so I don't think it's a particularly good medium of exchange due to the large attack surface.

    The Monero price bubble seems to have popped and the price is crashing again.

    So is Zcash just another speculative pump and dump or do you think people are actually going to use it for gambling and buying drugs?

    My understanding is Zcash was initially planned as a sidechain for bitcoin but it was easier get investment for Zcash as an alt-coin because investors can pump and dump their coins after launch.

    How someone has set-up Zcash Classic, which is a carbon copy of Zcash but without the 20% founders tax. This means there will be at least two versions of Zcash that gambling sites will have to support, which greatly complicates things.

    I recently bought Litecoin for the first time for occasions when the bitcoin blockchain is backlogged. At the moment not too many sites accept it though. BetCoin and BetOnline are the only two that I can think of.

    The Ethereum blockchain is completely backlogged and transaction are taking days so I wouldn't recommend using ether right now for online gambling. It turns out that Ethereum has just as many problems scaling as BTC.
