Popular crypto sportsbook DirectBet have announced that they are shutting down with immediate effect. In an email to their players they announced the surprise closure, saying that they were closing DirectBet in order to "pursue other interests". The good news is that all confirmed bets stand and will be settled as soon as the events have finished. Players were instructed to withdraw any remaining balances in their player accounts. We are sorry to see DirectBet go because they were one of the few sportsbooks to accept Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash and Ether in addition to bitcoin. We have to commend them for their honesty though. They could have pulled an exit scam and taken everyone's crypto-currency like so many other companies have done in the space.
that's a shame. they were great for soccer and golf wagering. glad they didn't screw their customers before they shut-down.
Yes, they were offering something a little different so I'm surprised they've shut-down. Here's more info on the DirectBet closure.
No. I don't think they were holding player funds when they closed. The only crypto-currency they were holding was for open bets, which they later settled. You have to give them credit for not pulling an exit scam like so many other companies in this space.
When the DirectBet guys said they were shutting down to pursue other interests, does anyone else think what they meant was they were going to launch a gambling ICO and make millions?
LOL. Yeah I bet they're behind one of the many gambling ICO's that are now appearing. Whey bother making tiny profits from a cryptocurrency sportsbook when you can just $100 million dollars in an ICO.
