I used to buy and sell all my bitcoin at Circle.com until closed their brokerage service. Now I'm looking for an easy and cheap way to buy and sell bitcoin in the USA for gambling purposes. I've read that Paxful and Localbitcoins are a good alternative to Coinbase and Circle but I don't really understand what they are.

Has anyone here used either Localbitcoin.com or Paxful.com to buy/sell bitcoin in the United States?

Yes. I've used both and they are trustworthy. They are like the eBay of bitcoin buying and selling. Here's a video explanation of how Paxful works...

These services are great for anyone using sites like Alphabay because there is no KYC or AML procedure so the coins can't be linked back to you. In the past it was possible to buy bitcoins from BTM's to make these purchases but even those machines now require you provide ID and a fingerprint.

  4. Some did this review of Paxful, which might be useful.

I know Paxful charge the seller 1% of the sale amount. There is no fee for buying btc at Paxful. I'm not familiar with localbitcoin but I presume it's similar.

These are really critical services as they act as a safety valve for when governments over regulate. For example, when the PBOC recently stopped Chinese bitcoin exchanges from processing withdrawals, the volume on Chinese localbitcoin went through the roof. It's important that governments realise that over regulating bitcoin is a bad idea.

There is a new site similar to Locabitcoin for Monero that allows you to buy Monero for cash. I think it's called Monero For Cash.

Monero need to get added to Trezor or Ledger before I think about investing.

I stopped using them after they asked for AML and KYC. Now I use Hodl Hodl https://hodlhodl.com and it works pretty good if you want to remain anonymous.
