Can I use a bitcoin debit card for gambling?

    If I want to cashout quickly from a bitcoin sportsbook or casino, can I get the btc sent directly to a BitPay or Xapo debit card and then withdraw the dollars immediately?

    Yes using a bitcoin debit card is a quick way of getting access to your cash. You need to be careful if you are using a debit card from Coinbase because they actively close accounts of users who transfer bitcoin directly from the Coinbase wallet too or from an online gambling site.

    Since Xapo is based in Europe (Switzerland I think) their card would probably be the best to use for online gambling.

    Bitwala are a Dutch company who recently introduced a bitcoin debit card that might be useful for gambling. They've teamed up with alt-coin exchange ShapeShit to allow users to fund your debit card with Litecoin, Monero, Clams, Dash, Digibyte, Dogecoin, Vertcoin, BitCrystals, Blackcoin, Emercoin, Ether, Lisk, Mintcoin, Nubits, Siacoin, Tether, Voxels, Vericoin and a whole bunch of others.

    Xapo does not officially support online gambling but we have not heard of Xapo customers having their accounts closed because transactions to online gambling sites.

    i'd never heard of them before but they do seem to be quiet popular. i like how you can use the debit card anonymously providing you stay below their lower debit card limits. bitpay, xapo and coinbase both put you through a lengthy aml/kyc process. i can think of a couple of uses for an anonymous bitcoin debit card :)

    i've been using the xapo debit card and i'm very happy with it. only downside is there is a lifetime $2,000 limit when you first receive the card. you have to go through kyc in order to get that limit removed.

    most debit cards are now only available in the european union for some reason. does anyone know of a bitcoin visa or mastercard that i can get outside the eu?

    Even the debit cards like Bitwala and Xapo that were available in Europe have now been cancelled. From what I can gather, the only place where you can obtain a cryptocurrency Visa or Mastercard is the United States.

    BitPay cancelled my BitPay debit card because they said I was using it too much outside of the United States. If they had told me that I should only use it in the United States then I would have only used it in the US. I travel in Europe a lot for work so I used it there quiet a lot over the past few months and now they've cancelled it without warning. ASSHOLES!!!

    We are seeing reports of CashApp closing account of US gamblers who use their service to buy and sell bitcoin. This means they are doing some kind of blockchain analytics to see where their customers are sending the bitcoin they buy via their app. If they are doing this for bitcoin then they are probably doing the same for their debit card. If you deposit at an offshore bookmaker with the CashApp debit card, I think there is a strong possibility they will close your account or at least give you a warning.

    My guess is these bitcoin debit cards will start to disappear and will be replaced with Lightning Network wallets instead. For example, the Cash App currently has 15 million active users and I will be surprised if they don't active Lightning payments during the next couple of years. They also have their Square retail payments systems in tons of businesses so they could also start accepting Lightning Network payments at all of those locations in the near future.

    right now bitcoin is more a store of value rather than a medium of exchange. people use bitcoin for online gambling because their visa/mastercards don't work at poker rooms and sportsbooks. i don't see the point in spending your bitcoin to buy a coffee and a muffin when the price could go 20x in the next few years.
