Just a few short months ago Roger Ver caused a stir in the bitcoin community when he launched an online casino on this Bitcoin.com portal. Many felt that such an important domain should be used for educational purposes rather than for promoting slots and blackjack. The casino launched to much fanfare, boasting of over 1,000 games to choose from, however, in an email to their players they've now decided to “to change the strategy on game offering" and “to focus more on blockchain centric games rather than classic casino games" Players were request to withdraw their funds ASAP. There were even reports on reddit of players having problems withdrawing from casino.bitcoin.com but thankfully those seem to have been resolved.
this is surprising. i never played at it but it did look slick. i wonder was it removed for legal reasons or because it wasn't making any money?
I doubt is was for legal reasons because it never accepted players from the United States to begin with. As we've seen with the whole big block saga Roger is pretty impatient so my guess is the casino wasn't the goldmine he expected so he fired the games providers.
The new casino looks really basic compared to the old one. I wonder why he chose to switch to such crappy software?
My guess is he only had a basic affiliate deal previously that gave him a 30% to 40% cut of the revenue. His new casino software looks far more basic so maybe he had it developed in-house so he could keep 100% of the profit.
According to this sites, they have blocked players US, Iran, N. Korea and Syria. The U.S. keeps some good neighbors.
Now that Roger is no longer a U.S. citizen, why doesn't he start welcoming real money gamers from the U.S. to his casino? Isn't he living on some island in the Bahamas now? What are the U.S. authorities going to do?
Roger still has family and friends in the USA and probably would like to be able to return to visit them without being arrested at the airport for promoting online gambling.

i read this week that he was going to add an exchange to bitcoin.com. after mtgox was hacked, roger ver made a video saying that users funds were safe and that users had nothing to worry about so i really don't know who will be stupid enough to trust their crypto on an exchange run by this guy.
