Real money poker players in Australia have had a raw deal in 2018. Every major poker room like 888poker, PartyPoker and PokerStars stopped accepting real money players from Australia. To make matters worse, cryptocurrency friendly offshore poker sites like BetOnline and Americas Cardroom also withdrew from Australia. That meant poker players down under were left with very few options if they wanted to play at a high-traffic poker site. Thankfully, Ignition Casino Poker, who share the same player pool at Bodog and Bovada did not abandon their Australian poker players and continue to welcome Aussies who want to play cash games or tournaments.

One major drawback to the bitcoin friendly Ignition Casino Poker room was that their poker app for iPhone and Android was pretty basic. The only options available were cash games or speed poker. If you were a fan of tournaments and you lived in Australia then you didn't really have many options if you wanted to play on your iPhone X or Android Samsung Galaxy. Thankfully that has all changed thanks to the newly updated Ignition Poker app for iOS and Android. Here's what you need to know.
    • You can now play a wide variety of Sit & Go tournaments on any iPhone or Android device.
    • Texas Hold'em and Omaha cash games are all available via the app, as well as speed poker.
    • Australian mobile poker players just need to visit the website from their phones browser.
    • You can deposit with Australian dollars or with bitcoin.

Awesome news. I've been playing at Nitrogen because of the lack of proper mobile poker at Ignition but I'll give it a try now. Do I download it from Google Play and the iTunes App Store?

  3. they didn't just add sit & go tournaments to their mobile app, they also added multi-table tournaments for australian players. all the sites that are part of the PaiWangLuo network were upgraded together so you can now play both sit and go tournaments and MTT's at Bovada.lv, Ignition Casino, Bodog.com, Bodog.eu, and Bodog88.

it's a little bit confusing because sit&go's are displayed on the homescreen of the poker app but you need to do a little bit of digging to find regular tournaments. Just go Main Menu > Tournaments and then the MTT lobby will appear where you can select your tournament type by game type, buy-in, status or limit. once you select a tournament you can see the statues of each tournament, how many people have registered, when it starts etc.

I'm pretty sure it's 5% rake up to a $60 pot sie at Ignition Poker. A little high but I guess if you live in Australia you don't really have much choice.

Have Ignition added any more cryptocurrencies besides bitcoin? BTC fees are starting to rise again so it would be cool to see them add Ethereum and Litecoin support.

I'm not aware of any Australia-only cryptocurrency casinos but any of these bitcoin casinos welcome players from Australia - https://www.bitcoingambling.io/casinos.html

Ignition continues to be our favourite poker room and casino for Australian residents. We put together a guide to explain the legality of online gambling with crypto in Australia. The good news is while the Australian government does not allow offshore gambling companies to advertise to Australians, they don't prosecute Aussies who just want to play some online poker or blackjack for Tether or Bitcoin.
