Well it seems like the biggest winner of the recent U.S. Election was neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton but in fact bitcoin. A recent article on BraveNewCoin discusses the huge surge in activity experienced by sportsbooks and betting sites like CloudBet, Nitrogen Sports, BitBet and BetCoin. Fairlay, a relatively small bitcoin gambling operator, reported that they took over 4 thousand predictions worth nearly $1 million dollars on the likely winner of the USA Presidential Election. One has to assume that major operators like Nitrogen Sports were taking many multiples of this figure. Betting on elections isn't a new phenomenon, a representative from BitBet said they also experienced a high volume of betting on the recent Brexit referendum, which decided whether the UK would stay in the European Union or not.
