Apologies for the newbie/dumb question but is there any service that will allow me to quickly and easily purchase bitcoin with PayPal? A number of my friends are interested in getting started with BTC but as soon as I mention that you need to set-up an account at an exchange they lose interest. Most of them already have a PayPal account so if there was a way they could buy bitcoin with that it would really help drive bitcoin adoption.
Once simple and common way would be to use localbitcoin.com. Many sellers on there request payment using PayPal. You find a seller in your area that accepts PayPal and make a purchase.
I think it's only a matter of time before PayPal allow you to deposit using bitcoin. I don't think they will allow you to buy bitcoin for a while because there is too big a risk of chargebacks and fraud.
It's best to stay away from any services that claim to allow you to buy bitcoin with PayPal. 99% of the time they are scams.
I think the problem is when people have their PayPal accounts hacked and they buy bitcoin, there is no way to get the money back. If someone uses a hacked PayPal account to order something off Amazon, then it is easy to cancel the purchase in comparison. I can see why whey would be reluctant to enable bitcoin purchasing with PayPal.
Isn't Wences Casares on the board of directors of PayPal now? Since he owns Xapo, I'm surprised that PayPal are still so anti-bitcoin.
Yes he is. I don't think they aren't necessarily anti-bitcoin. They are just trying to protect their customers from getting ripped off. They also don't want to have to deal with thousands of customer support tickets saying someone sold their BTC for a PayPal payment that turned out to be fraudulent. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up buying a company like Coinbase in the end.
Now that PayPal and Venmo's biggest competitor, Square Cash App has added bitcoin support, it's surely only a matter of time before PayPal/Venmo do the same.
Skrill, who are one of PayPal's biggest competitors and the owners of Neteller, recently started allowing their customers to purchase bitcoin, litecoin and ethereum so it can't be too long until PayPal do the same. https://forum.bitcoingambling.io/th...-bitcoin-litecoin-and-ethereum-on-skrill.401/
While PayPal still doesn't sell cryptocurrencies, United States sports bettors can buy bitcoin at these reputable sites https://www.bitcoingambling.io/quic...or-united-states-gamblers-to-buy-bitcoin.html
CashApp, Neteller and Skrill now allow you to buy cryptocurrencies so it is surely only a matter of time before PayPal do the same.
If Cash App isn't available in your country, you should try Revolut. They allow you to buy ethereum, litecoin and bitcoin https://www.revolut.com/exchange-cryptocurrency
Paypal has many scams, be careful. Use local bitcoin as an intermediary that gives you security if your purchase was made and gives you a period of time to verify if the transaction was done well. Greetings

Yes, you can buy bitcoin with PayPal. There are different ways to do it depending on your preferences and needs. One way is to use PayPal’s own service that allows you to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrency. You need a PayPal balance account and you will be charged an exchange rate and fees for each transaction. Another way is to use a peer-to-peer platform like Paxful that connects buyers and sellers of bitcoin. You can find offers from different vendors who accept PayPal as a payment method and compare their prices and ratings.
