Can I use the Xapo wallet for gambling?

Coinbase seem to be closing the accounts of any users who send money to a sportsbook or casino, which is a shame because I really like their wallet app. I especially liked that you could keep the bulk of your coins in cold storage with them for free. Since I'm based in the USA I do like to fund my sportsbook and poker room using btc so this is kind of inconvenient.

I've read that Xapo offer a similar service to Coinbase in that you can secure most of your bitcoin in their vault and use the main wallet as your hot wallet. Does anyone know if Xapo allow their customers to sends and receive btc from gambling sites?

according to their website they are based in switzerland so i can't see why they would have a problem with online gambling. coinbase and circle both have US regulators up their asses.

I think it's OK to use Xapo for gambling. It usually takes them 2 weeks to reply to a simple support request so I doubt they have the resources to track each and every transaction from one of their wallets.

Does anyone actually use Xapo as a hot wallet? The UI is so terrible I though most people just used their vault.

i've stopped using the xapo wallet because the balances didn't update immediately. sometimes i'd have to wait hours for transactions to show up which freaked me out a little.

Has anyone used the Xapo Debit Card? After I've transferred bitcoin to the card, how long before I can access the money from an ATM?

I have one. The Xapo debit card is linked to the main Xapo wallet so if you send btc to your Xapo account you'll need to wait for it to confirm. That will take at least 1 hour. Sometimes balances can take a few hours to refresh at Xapo even after 6 confirmations but I don't know why.

the xapo debit card is now accepted by uber in argentina. i might actually get one if uber start accepting it in other countries.

Forget the debit card, why can't I just pay directly from my bitcoin wallet.

How does Xapo make money? In the beginning they charged a small fee to use their vault but now that's free. How can they afford to have offices around the world and a bunker with a vault and 24hr security?

i recently tried to withdraw some bitcoin from the xapo vault and had to go through the whole know your customer nonsense. to review my documents took 3 weeks, which is ridiculous. i supplied them with a bank statement to prove my address but they said that wasn't enough. the problem is i rent so all the bill are in my landlords name so i don't have any other proof of address documents. just be aware if you are depositing any btc in xapo that it might take a month to withdraw them even if you have sufficient documentation. had they told me at the beginning that kyc/aml was necessary i would never have deposited some coins in their vault.

Xapo have the slowest customer service. I've been trying to get my account verified so I can withdraw my bitcoin for the past couple of months. It takes them weeks to reply to messages.

I sent Xapo my ID and a copy of a utility bill over a month ago and I still haven't gotten a reply from them.

Same. I thought they hadn't received it but then I eventually got a reply after about 5 weeks.

If you have a large amout of btc in the Xapo Vault then you definitely should not use them for gambling because they may shutdown your account and force you to jump through weeks of hoops to withdraw your bitcoin.

The Xapo wallet on my iPhone recently updated and when I launched it I was required to take a photo of myself before the app would launch. I wish they would have told me that I would have to provide a photo before I deposited any bitcoin. If you are interested in privacy then you should stick with breadwallet or samurai wallet.

i think you can use any wallet for gambling, including Coinbase, providing they provide you with a fresh and clean deposit address each time. Otherwise there is no way for them to find out.

Potential new Xapo customers should be aware that Xapo no longer offer their Visa debit card outside the European Union.

We do not recommend Xapo right now because they are supporting the 2X hardfork, which will basically be an alt-coin. The best wallets to use during the SegWit2X hardfork is either Samourai Wallet (Android) or GreenAddress (iOS). Both of these chains have pledged to stay on the current Core supported chain.

  20. i'm hearing lots of reports of gamblers getting kicked off of cashapp in the united states for buying bitcoin for gambling but i've yet to hear of anyone getting removed from xapo. maybe because they're based in switzerland rather than the united states.
