I hear that the competition is pretty soft at bitcoin poker rooms so I'd like to give it a try but I'm not sure how to go about buying bitcoin in the UK. Any recommendations?

You should check out this guide to buying bitcoin for gambling that offers recommendations to a few trustworthy btc brokers and exchanges. If you live in the UK then the cheapest and easiest way to buy bitcoin would be with a debit card or credit card at an exchange like Kraken or Coinbase.

In London I think the average fee for buying bitcoin from an ATM is about 5% but it can go as high as 10%.

You would also try Paxful.com who facilitate person-to-person bitcoin purchases using an escrow service. Using Paxful you can buy bitcoin with Western Union, PayPal, Amazon Gift Cards, Debit/Credit cards, Skrill and a ton of other payment methods. The site uses a reputation system so you should only buy from sellers who have proven to be honest in the past.

Circle no longer allow their customers to buy and sell bitcoin.

  10. you could use a service like bitwage.com to receive part of your salary in bitcoin each month. that's the easiest option of all to receive a steady supply of bitcoin without having to do anything.

Coinfloor are a good option for buying or selling bitcoin in the UK. They have low trading fees, an easy to use interface that is ideal for beginners and plenty of liquidity.

You can deposit at both Neteller and Skrill using bitcoin right now, however, you can only transfer the money to other Neteller/Skrill customers or withdraw it to your bank account. You cannot spend it or withdraw using your debit card.

i would avoid major exchanges like coinbase because they're literally signing up tens of thousands of new customers every day and they are having trouble clearing the backlog. you might literally be waiting weeks or months to have your documents verified. far better to use a smaller uk based exchange.

I don't know if there are any major UK based exchanges. I think most UK citizens use Bitstamp, Kraken and Coinbase like the rest of us.

This UK company looks promising. https://fastbitcoins.com

They provide terminals for shops or cabs where people can buy bitcoin in seconds. Once you have the code, you then redeem your BTC via the website.

It's surely on a better of bitcoin until the Cash App enables bitcoin purchase in the UK. The app is already available, but you can't trade crypto at the moment.
