i use cloudbet and nitrogen sports for sports betting but neither of those cover horse racing. are there are U.S. friendly online racebooks that accept btc? i'm mainly interested in betting on horse racing from the united states but i also have an occasional wager on races in the uk, australia and ireland.

The bitcoin sportsbooks that only accept bitcoin don't offer lines on horse racing yet. If you want to have a punt on a horse race with bitcoin then you'll need to sign-up with one of the traditional bitcoin friendly online sportsbooks. For horse racing we think BetOnline has the edge.

    BETONLINE U.S. RACEBOOK - BETONLINE.AG
    • Wide range of cashier options, including bitcoin, Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer, check, Skrill and Neteller. U.S. punters welcome.
    • Minimum bitcoin deposit and withdrawal is $20.
    • BTC deposits are free and are credited to accounts after 6 confirmations.
    • BTC payouts are processed within 48 hours and there is a 2% withdrawal fee.
    • Bet on thoroughbred and harness horse racing from every U.S. racetrack.
    • Horse racing bet types include: straight, win, place, show, exotic wagers, across the board, exacta, quinella, trifecta, superfacta, daily double, pick 3 and more.
    • Mobile betting available on iPhone, Android and Windows Phone.
    • $25 free bet when you use their racebook for the first time.
    • 7% daily rebate on wagers placed from the internet.
BOVADA USA RACEBOOK APP - BOVADA.LV
    • Bovada is only available in the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and other Latin American countries. It's not available in Europe, Asia or Australia.
    • Focus is mainly on United States racetracks but they also offer odds on some UK, Irish and Australian racing.
    • Wagering on horse racing works great on Android and iOS.
    • Rebates of 3% on straight and 5% on exotic wagers are available weekly.
    • Bovada support both Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. Both options are processed for free.
    • In our experience crypto withdrawals are processed within 24 hours.

Does Betonline cover racetracks in the UK, Australia and Ireland also?

No. Certainly not on a daily basis although you might be able to wager on the English Grand National or the Melbourne Cup.

Is the racebook also available on smartphones? When I load their mobile site onto my Droid I don't see any option to bet on horse racing?

For some stupid reason, BetOnline keep the mobile racebook hidden until you have logged in. It doesn't make any sense to me but that's how it works.

Do Bovada or 5Dimes have a racebook?

Yes. Both 5Dimes and Bovada have a racebook but horse racing coverage isn't quiet as strong as it is at BetOnline.

I had a look this week because of the Cheltenham Racing festival but sadly none of the big bookies like William Hill or Paddy Power accept crypto yet.

You might get a future or horse prop for European or UAE racing at Bovada, although they are heavily USA focused. Few if any Euro bookies take Bitcoin for regulatory reasons. Their licensing jurisdictions don't want any part of potentially "shady" transfers. That's the price of legal sports betting.

A couple omissions here for USA horse players: SportsBetting.ag, BookMaker and Diamond. SB is another BetOnline brand to be forthright. BookMaker and Diamond are part of BetCris, they've been around forever and offer action on major horse races.

Each bitcoin racebook deposit goes in the common wallet, though your welcome promo may differ depending on how you reached the site. BookMaker is pretty reliable for recreational players. Your lines might get adjusted if you're sharper than usual for sports.

Only other option for Irish for British horse racing would be an Asian bookie, maybe Bodog Asia. They started taking BTC and have a generous bonus.

I can't comment on the sports betting odds on Bovada but I think when it comes to betting on horse racing, BetOnline is a better book.
