The Winning Poker Network has been around since 2001 and is one of the most trusted United States friendly real money poker networks. If you've ever played at popular US poker rooms like Americas Cardroom, True Poker, Black Chip Poker or Ya Poker then you've played on the WPN. Cryptocurrency was proving so popular amongst Americas Cardroom players that we reported last year that they had started accepting over 65 different crypto's including Ethereum, Monero, Zcash, Litecoin and Dash.

Now the Winning Poker Network have revealed that their poker rooms are seeing as much as 60% of their total payments coming through various cryptocurrencies, eclipsing fiat currencies like the dollar or the euro. Back in 2015 when they added support for bitcoin, less than 3% of their deposits were made using BTC. That's a huge 30 fold increase in just 3 years.

According to a spokesman for the Winning Poker Network, crypto is proving more popular than bank wires and credit cards because crypto payments are faster and cheaper. He's probably being a little disingenuous here because many WPN customers live in the United States and crypto is the only option for them since most banks and credit card companies will block deposits to poker rooms like Americas Cardroom and Black Chip Poker.

It's likely that this trend will continue so the question is what percentage of Winning Poker Network transactions will be made using bitcoin by the end of 2019. 70% or maybe 80%??

The virus is spreading and yet many people still laugh at bitcoiners when they say bitcoin is going to $50,000. This one industry is showing a 30x increase in use in just a handful of years. Incredible.

Once the lightning network becomes more widespread, even sites like Bwin, Bet365 and PokerStars will start accepting bitcoin. It will just be like PayPal, Skrill or Neteller for gambling operators.
