How to access cryptocurrency gambling sites from banned countries

    Many people are under the impression that bitcoin gambling sites welcome real money sports bettors and poker players from every corner of the planet but that's simply not true. For example, Nitrogen Sports banned UK sports bettors after the UK Gaming Commission sent some threatening legal letter. Many of the best bitcoin casinos also restrict players from the United States of America. Thankfully, these bans are pretty easy to circumvent because most cryptocurrency gambling sites do not force their players to submit photo ID and utility bills so the only way they know your country of origin is by checking your IP address. Anybody who has accessed Hulu or the U.S. version of Netflix knows that it's pretty easy to hide your IP address by using a VPN like Hidemyass.

    If you are not familiar with Virtual Private Networks, then this article offers a pretty good step-by-step guide to setting up a free VPN on your phone or desktop in order to access your favourite bitcoin, monero, ethereum or litecoin casino, sportsbook or poker room. They recommend TunnelBear because TunnelBear offer 500mb free per month on their Lite package. While this might not be enough to watch a full season of House Of Cards, it's certainly enough to browse the betting markets of sites like Nitrogen Sports in order to place a bet.

    If anyone else has any suggestions on how to bypass geolocation restrictions to access crypto-currency gambling sites then we'd love to hear them.

    Hi thanks for the post and information, has anyone else managed to use Nitrogen Sports and is from the UK?

    The issue I have here is while there is no KYC check or passports, bills or I.D and its anonymous in nature, what happens if you make a good amount of money and they suddenly spring a security or equivalent check just before you go to withdraw winnings?

    They may even spring a country check on you and if you are from the UK suddenly keep your winnings.
    I would appreciate anyone giving their opinions on Nitrogen sports and VPN users from the UK, thanks.

    I would be kind of surprised if they sprung a country check on you to he honest. I've never heard of them doing this. I don't think they care where their sports bettors are from, they just use IP blocking because they want plausible deniability that they didn't know the player was from the UK. They do not clearly display a list of banned country at the sign-up form and you are not required to specify where you are from. If you are a UK resident who is one their summer vacation or travelling for work and you set-up an instant Nitrogen Sports, you would be completely unaware that they do not allow UK punters. If they confiscated your BTC when you return from holidays, it would be extremely bad PR.

    Having said that, I think it's better to safe than sorry if you are betting with large amounts. I'm starting to hear people say that CloudBet is now superior to Nitrogen Sports. CloudBet offer far more in-play betting markets and their grading is faster so maybe it's worth giving them a try before you risk Nitrogen.

    thanks, yes that is the main concern about losing potential money.
    I just ran a quick test (I am from uk)

    attempted to connect to Nitrogen sports eu website, and it loaded up fine so it does not block UK IP addresses at all.

    However they do cover their backs a bit here, it says during the log in screen you must confirm you can use this type of gambling in your legal jurisdiction but there is no yes or no or countries not accepted list.

    Cloudbet upon sign up does say not allowed in your country.

    I guess as you advise with a VPN no such issues!

    Now that Australia has effectively banned online poker and PokerStars are shutting down there this year, I'm sure cryptocurrency gambling sites will be targeting Australian poker players. It will be interesting to see if the Aussie government takes steps to block the IP's of bitcoin poker sites. If they don't then their legislation is completely pointless and they'll just end up losing out on potential tax revenue.

    Yes, it has started to happen already. Originally Ignition Poker was only available in the United States but now they are also accepting players from Australia.

    blocking by IP is not 100% accurate. i don't see how they can ban a player and confiscate their money unless that player has filled in the registration form and gave incorrect information. at sites like nitrogen you are not even asked for an email address, let alone being asked which country you live in. if at a later date they do some kyc i don't think it should be your problem if they find out you are a UK citizen since you never denied it in the first place.

    Most exchanges and gambling sites have lists of known VPN IP addresses so you are taking a risk anytime you use a VPN, unless you have a dedicated IP. At the moment Binance are freezing the funds in any accounts that use a suspected VPN IP address until the account holder goes through their AML and KYC procedure. Since many of their customers are based in the United States, they will probably never get their crypto back so be careful.
